Studio Minna Palmqvist is a multidisciplinary art and design studio, with their roots in fashion.
Run by Minna Palmqvist since 2009, the studio mixes seasonless fashion collections and drops of unique numbered garments, with homeware, sculpture and art installations.
It might sound scattered and unfocused?
Not if you look at it as one practice, all with the same purpose;
to dissect, question and process outdated body ideals turning the body into an object there to please the beholder; the pressure to consume oneself the happiness and popularity; mass production on the verge of environmental collapse.
Minna Palmqvist’s art and design has been showcased from the US to China, but mainly in Europe. In museums like Museum Boijmans van Beuningen (NL), NOMA (US) and Copenhagen Contemporary (DK) her work has been seen alongside names such as Maison Martin Margiela, Hussein Chalayan and Rei Kawakubo.
Studio Minna Palmqvist also takes on commissioned work such as creative direction, costume, set- and exhibition design and public art.
Studio Minna Palmqvist is based in Stockholm, Sweden, and is since 2020 part of the artist platform MISSCHIEFS - a method to create more space and opportunities for womxn (female and non-binary) artists.
